Allen Blade made three videos: hollow grinding, flat grinding, and kydex/concealex sheath making.

If you do a search, simply type his name in, there will be posts that come up with his contact info.

Roy, I just got a Coote's after hand-filing my first knife. Work with inexpensive steel, practice, practice, practice.

I bought some ATS34, but I'm not going to use it for a while. In the mean time, I use 1095. It is relatively inexpensive, not to hard on grinding belts and I can heat treat my own blades with simple tools.

My first attempt was a flop. Ground too fast and blade warped big time (have a dish of water on hand to dip the blade). Ended up making a neck knife

(shown in the picture) My 2nd knife went a bit smoother (drop point hunter).

It takes alot of concentration to keep the same angle of the blade relative to the platen. You'll find that out. It gets better with practice.

Roy,one very inexspensive way to practice grinding blades is to use latheing strips, dont know if that is spelled correctly. They are wooden strips used for lath&plaster work.Get 1 1/2 or 2"x1/4"from your local lumber yard, use it as you would steel, trace a pattern,cut/grind a profile, mark the centerlines, sketch the bevels you want then grind the blade, you could use a 60 grit belt. You can use the same belt for many, many, practice blades. You can grind these any way you want, but when you start to grind steel, make only 1-3 passes on each side of your blade bevels to keep warpage down during heat treat.Hope this helps.
