Grinder upgrade options?

I've been running a Shop Fox 2x72 W1843 for a while now and I am very pleased with the performance and I'm getting really good results out of it.

It's a 2 pulley setup with a 10" rubber coated drive wheel.

The ONLY thing I wish I could change would be the ability to change the speed, mainly for post heat treat grinding.

I'm trying to decide if I should try and upgrade or modify this grinder or just sell it and get a new one.

The motor if single phase so as I understand it Converting it to variable speed is not a realistic option from a cost standpoint, so the other option might be to get a smaller drive wheel to lessen the belt speed but that would be kind of a pita to change back and forth.

Is anyone using our familiar with this grinder? Have any ideas or options.

Isn't that a bench grinder with a 2X72 belt replacing one wheel? If so, you will need to get a new and proper grinder to go VFD.

Some people put a pulley on the buffer shaft and pulley on 3phase motor and run a VFD.

I messed around with changing drive wheels for speed and it's a pita
Unless you're poor man working id sell it and get an upgrade
Or better still use it in building a new kmg type clone or whatever then sell it for motor and vfd

It's basically a Grizzly G1015 correct? If so, the option most straightforward option is as Adam said.
