Grinder vibration

I just mounted a new 6 inch wheel on my grinder, but the vibration is excessive, much more than with my old wheel. I suspect that it is out of round. Is there a method of balancing it? I can't return it because it's at least 6 years old, but never been used. If I can't fix it, I will have to remount the old wheel.

Any ideas? Thanks.

I hope this is in the right forum.

Does it spin nice, smooth? No bearing issues?
Do you have a tube/sleeve in between the bearings? If not is it over tight?

Does it run smooth with other wheels or the flat platen?

As Craig pointed out, it is most likely a problem with the mounting of the wheel, not the roundness.
Make sure it is installed properly and that the mounting bolt is straight and the right size.
Make sure all bearings are good and there is no wobble when you try to move the wheel from side with no belt on the grinder.
Make sure your arm is locked down tight and not bent or anything.
Look for chunks out of the wheel or other obvious damage.

I have changed nothing but the wheel. The old wheel did not vibrate at all, so with the same mounting, it has to be the wheel. It is mounted on the shaft very snuggly with a nut. Pretty simple.

So, it is solid feeling when you try to wiggle it side to side ?
If so, something is wrong with the wheel.

What make is your grinder, and what is the mounting bolt size?
I have heard of issues with a wheel that was made in SAE not working right with metric mounts. If the shaft hole is 1/2" and it is mounted on a 12mm bolt, it will seem to fit. It will tighten down and seem fine. but be eccentric and vibrate like he!!. Even if the size and bolt are right, not every bolt is perfect, so that can be a place to look at.

I found out what my problem is. The plastic bushing is a little lop sided, so I just remounted the old wheel, which uses no bushing. I will probably just throw the new wheel in the trash. Thanks for your help.
