What is a good grinder i can get on a tight budget because im 16 and mcdonalds doesnt want to hire me because of covid :(

ah sorry for not explaining better. I have a angle grinder and a 4 x36 belt grinder. Im looking for a decent belt grinder because mine is a big pain with the large belts. I was looking at a norse 2x42 or 48 and idk if that would be a upgrade

Aren’t you building a 2 x 72”? They are the best deal for belts With widest selection & run cooler than those smaller belt grinders you’ve mentioned..

its a dream to build my own but i dont think i'd be ready for it. With steel i'd need a welder and learn to weld and wood kinda seems iffy but possible. I dont know the proper calculations for lengths and widths and a motor can be a little pricey and to add up all the materials. Thats why im thinking of buying a grinder for around 200$ so i can take time to learn my craft and make better knives. Here check out one of my knives so u can see what style im going for and why a smaller belt width will be better. https://www.ebay.com/itm/203065982808 and no im not trying to sell this pup i know the rules of the site i just dont really understand how to post pictures here.

You’re off to a great start!:thumbsup:... Look up Jeff Fisk if you want to see an American Legends work in Bowie knives! I used a 4 x 48” and a 2 x 48” years ago when I started. Here’s what the late Bob Loveless told me to do. Get a Coffee can. Sell each knife for what it costs to make three more. 1/3 goes to materials, 1/3 goes to the wife to buy food, etc, 1/3 goes in the Coffee can for the 2 x 72” grinder, Drill Press etc that you want! It worked. Perhaps your still living with your parent(s)? Put 2/3 in the can for your next tool purchase! :) Keep us posted, I see you have great potential starting out at 16..:thumbsup::thumbsup:

thanks man thats very helpful and inspirational. I like the 2x48 and 4x36 combo for me so i think im going to shoot for a 2x48 as soon as i have the cash. Im planing on buying like 4 antlers (dang man antlers are pretty expensive) and 52100 bar stock because i think thats my favorite steel so far. Ive tried 1080, 1084, 1095, 5160, 80 crv2, and 52100 and i think my top runners are 52100 and 5160. So yeah i got off track, im going to get 52100 and antlers and make some S guard bowies and try to sell them 150$ each (hopefully they sell) then im going to do 2/3 for my shop and 1/3 into me saving for anything i want to buy for my family. Ive been thinking on selling here but i think my knives are to a level of all the mastersmiths here ill probably get rolled over but as soon as i think i can get the 2x42 that can change:)
