Grinders on a Budget.

can anyone tell me where I can get an ok belt grinder for around $300 (canadian)???
I don't know why I have such bad luck finding knife making supplies, but I sure do!
all I can really find with any kind of good contact wheel is $1000US and up....
I don't really care what size of belts as long as it's 2" wide and has a usable contact wheel. help!!!

Coote is one place that makes a very good entry grinder, though you may have to save a bit longer. No matter what kind of grinder you get later, you'll always have uses for it in your shop.

I just bought a grizzly G1015 for my first grinder. Its cheap but it works well enough. It wobbled at the base and didnt track well, but I solved this with shims and by filing the wheel a little. I recomend this if you dont want to spend too much.

well that doesn't seem to bad, but what about the motor? as you can tell I'm a newb to this....
and would the 6" wheel be ok for making blades? should I go with the 8" or 10"?

I got your mail Don, I just read your post after replying, I wasn't sure if I had emailed you before on the ckg site or not, I have been trying to find out a lot of info and can't keep track of who I have emailed
