Hey Guys...

Ok,, my grinding addiction has started...

Backed the truck up to the shop.. Unloaded my Brand Spanking new Variable 2X72,, dropped it on the bench, plugged it in,,and once I played with the controls a little,, I was grinding in under 10 mins..

Didn't bother to bolt it down, and used a cold cup of coffee to quench... LOL

Man am I hooked, like a Crack head with a bank account.....

Don't know why I waited this long...

Ohhh,,and I buggered up 3 perfectly good blanks today..:)

ttyle

Eric....

Congrats, making sparks can be fun, though watch out for the 36 grit belts, there like a band saw blade on your skin!

Got any finger prints left? :p

i am an addict as well. i annealed about 20 old files and have been going at it (between forging) since my KMG got her......................

Grinding belts are to a new grinder as gas is to a corvette.Good quality works beter, but it eats them up at a frightful rate anyway.

AAHHH, ain't nothin' like the smell of hot steel and the feel of belt grit on your body in the morning. :D Yes normark, it's extremely addictive. Better that then something hazardous to your health. Wait a minute, if you're not careful this could be hazardous to your health. :D welcome to the club.

Eric, I'm right there with you! I finally got my machine bolted down, wired up and grinding a couple days ago. I'm just frustrated because I'm still behind on my KITH knife, so I have to finish that, then two sheaths, before I can play with my new toy!

Although, last night I shaped the front end of some scales with it and it was amazing. I radiused the curve on a 36 grit belt, which took about 3 seconds, and then switched to 120 and then a 400. Smooth, perfect curve, perfect finish, and it took about one minute including changing belts. Before this I would've cut with a hacksaw, filed to shape, hand sanded, bitched and moaned because they weren't lined up right, sanded more, etc etc etc.

Congratulations on the grinder(what kind?). NOW, go bolt that thing down.;)

Some years ago, some brainiac bought a Burr King grinder, placed it on his bench, and put the steel to the wheel.

Well, the grinder climbed right up the steel, and into his abdomen, or chest. Obviously, it couldn't have been his fault, no one had told him you had to bolt it down, or that grinding was dangerous, so he sued Burr King, and the supplier that sold him the grinder. :barf:

"Like a crack head with a bank account"! That's a good one!!!

I'm curious to see your designs. Given how impressive your sheaths are I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Happy grinding.
