Finally found a good used Bader BII after looking for about 3 months. Should arrive in a week or two. I need to order some belts and was wondering what grits I should get to start. I was thinking 50, 120, 220 and 400. Is this OK for a starting selection of grits? Where can I get the best price on grinding belts? What type of abrasive or brand of belt should I get? Any help would be appreciated. Ken

Aluminum oxide belts are my choice for the 50-240 grit range then cork/silicone carbide for the 400 grit.

This combination gives me the most bang for the buck both in my metal polishing shop and the knifemaking shop. In the metal polishing shop where I have the ability to really put the pressure on I use a cubic zirconia/ aluminum oxide belt in a 36 grit for flat bar but these belts won't give me the life necessary to compensate for the extra cost in knifemaking, they need high pressure or the grains round off.
