grinding confusion

i am confused on grinding i hear alot of knife makers say they use belt grinders to grind blades. i have a few buck knives and it looks like the company grinds the edge with a grinding wheel to give the edge a concave grind?

For hollow grinds, the belt is run around a (usually) 8" or 10" wheel. You can see pictures at www.beaumontmetalworks.com.

Traditional cutlery grinding wheels ,which are still being used are about 3' in diameter !! Not often used by custom makers !

3 ft!! I'm still afraid of my 8"er. I'm feeling inadequate.
