Grinding curved blades

I've been trying to grind a pair of small personal carry knives and i can't seem to get the grind to work for me. The blade is small, 2 1/2 inch small. and has a little hook to it. Kind of like a kerambit but not so drastic. Any hints on getting the bevels even?
