I just bought the TOPS Pasayten Lite Traveler,, a wonderful knife but I really hate the gimpings on the back of the blade and handle. Can I grind them down without dameging the heattreatment?

Thanks

Go slow. Use a dremel on a low to medium speed with a medium grit wheel. A drip in some water every so often will help keep it cool.
Are you go to get low spots removing the gimping? Something to consider.

Aha, ok, thanks. Yes it will be a lower part of the blade i guess but I really find the gimping so uncomfortable,, I just want to get rid of them.. I will buy a dremel. The TOPS Pasayten Lite Traveler is really a fantastic knife, just wish tops didnt put gimping on all their blades..

Google superglue baking soda. I did this to the jimping on my WE704's lockbar. Contoured easily, with another knife, to the pre-jimping shape. make sure to clean jimping with alcohol & a small brush. I applied the superglue with a pin to place the glue more precisely. So glue, sprinkle baking soda, done, immediately hard, carves like wood....translucent looking pale white color when done.
