I bought a plate from Ellis last June since then I have gone through three of them to no fault of the plate. It keeps coming loose and getting jammed inthe drive wheel on my 1 x 42. What does everyone else use to attach their glass plates to their grinders???

Thanks

Abe

I've used JB Weld on three grinders now. Never had a problem. In fact, I had to shatter one platen into a million pieces to get it off.

Hi Abe, I've heard of people using everything under the sun to attach the ceramic platen liners to their grinders, however, I'm most comfortable recommending what Ryan mentioned: JB Weld.

BTW, you coming to Blade this year? Look forward to seeing you if so!

Tap the end of the platen and install a couple of screws to keep the plate from moving, just in case you get it hot enough to soften the JB Weld...

Thanks Guys

I wil be at Bladde again this year Darren and I look forward to stopping buy and saying hi.

We had started an email chat on this topic you and I but some how it got muttled up. A couple I sent you bounced back.

Now to track down JB weld on this side of the border.

I used some heavy duty double-sided mounting tape for exterior use. I was an idiot and hit and broke one I got from Darren and it took me a 1/2 hour to get it off.
Used the same stuff on the next one and that machine has been running everyday for over a year now with the same tape.
No muss - no fuss.
