Grinding/shaping a titanium clip using a Dremel

Hi

I have a Boker Urban Trapper Premium with a, to my mind, very clunky clip. It is also very stiff. This is a machined clip. I was thinking of slimming down the clip using my Dremel.

How easy is it to grind titanium? Any recommendations as to what Dremel tools or what grit sanding drums to use?

I'll attach a picture of the clip side of the knife.

I would just remove the clip and look for other options like a Lynch Clip. Ti is sticky to cut and grind and if you plan to use your own knife as a trial and error deal project then the results are preordained.

That was my worry. I have thought along similar lines, but I think the clip is recessed down in to the carbon fiber. So I have to either get very lucky or modify another clip. Perhaps modifying another clip would be the safest option. Thank for your opinion!

I have shaped titanium on a belt grinder without issues, except you get lots of sparks. If working with a Dremel I would use the sanding drums and then finish it manually with sandpaper. But then you won't have the same tumbled finish, duplicating that by tumbling in a media like sand would be tricky.

I was thinking of sanding the flats to maybe 600 grit. But I think I will try D Danke42 suggestion and try to modify another clip before I try to grind down the original. Boker has another clip they use on some of the other Urban Trappers. I will try one of those, I think. But good info in grinding titanium. Thanks!
