Couldn't come up with anything in the search although i know its been talked about before. I have an Esse 4 and i'd like to take the shoulders back. I though about using my sharpmaker med. rods at 30* and when each side gets close to meeting as an edge move to the 40* rods. Does this sound like a good way to go or is there an easier/better way???

That sounds like one way to do it.

You might want to wrap the rods with wet/dry sanding media so you can increase the abrasive action and decrease the time spent doing it.

+1 on that. I used sandpaper on a mouse pad when I semi-convexed my 4. Worked great.

I use the 30* setting to sharpen my 4. Wrapped the rods with sandpaper for the re-profile job.
