Grinding stainless

Hi guys I’m starting to make some knives out of Abel and nitro v. Before this I was using different high carbon steels anyway I got some new belts as to not contaminate the stainless steel with high carbons steels that might rust. My main question is was my concerns warranted or not ? The reason I ask is in my haste I forgot to ad some scotch brite belts to my order do you think I can use my old ones that have already seen high carbon steel ?

At work they isolate tooling and grinders to keep the seperate.

I use the same Scotchbrite belts for carbon and stainless and have not noticed any problems. I have a separate belt I only use for aluminum.
