This might help some newbies out. I had a bad habit of grinding the area at the ricasso too thin on alot of my blades. Never could figure out why I was doing this till one day I was grinding blade and started at the tip. Before I would start by grinding the ricasso first, what I called this, setting the plunge cut. Then I'd finish the grinding and the ricasso was thinner than I wanted. Now I grind the rest of the blade first and set the plunge area last. That way I'm not going over the already ground ricasso and making it thinner and thinner.
