Bruce,
I take it you did the Filework before you heat treated the blade!
Good Tutorial though. I will try that on a Bowie I am working on today.
Hey Thanks

bobH,No actualy the filework is done after heat treating.Since I forge my blades and differentialy heat treat them the back edge is not hard so the filework is the last thing I do after hand rubbing the blade and before I attach the guard.
Hope this helps,
Bruce

Bruce,

Thank you very much for posting your tutorials. The sequences are well done and imformative. I especially liked the filework pics.

I'm a beginning knife maker with a little experience in a traditional blacksmithing shop and in making simple jewelry. I could use all the info I can get and your stuff is superb.

Bruce, you are an amazingly generous individual! I have never seen anyone willing to share this much info with others and also willing to take their valuable time to make up the tutorial web pages. The things you are showing us how to do are awesome! The shell buttcap floored me. I never would have thought something so beautiful would be so simple to make.
If you ever get the time to make any videos, please let me know. Thanks for these wonderful tutroials!!!

Take care!! Michael

Always think of your fellow knife makers as partners in the search for the perfect blade, not as people trying to compete with you and your work!
