Hi guys, i recently got a few kitchen knives that were being thrown out, and i allready have plenty, so i have decided to take the grinder/hacksaw/file/power sander to them, the first is a 7 inch chefs knife, the other is a 6 inch carbon steak knife.. So if anyone has some ideas for grinding these up into something new and usefull i would love to hear them.

PS: i hope this is the right section, sorry if someone has to move it.

Remove the parts you don't want. :D

The biggest thing is to keep them cool. Dip in water often if you're using any sort of power grinder on them. If the steel turns colors, you have problems.

X2, when working with hardened steel, try refrain from pushing the blade into the grinder harder and for longer periods, keep dipping every few seconds of grinding.

If you have more detailed questions, or when you get close to the profile you want, refer to the newbie sticky in the maker's forum or pm me for tips on finishing. I warn you, this can be addictive! Have fun! :)
