When I am flat grinding my fix blade knifes the tip almost always gets flat. It's sharp but not as pointed as when I started. What am I doing wrong? Help I am using carbon steel

There are many videos online showing how to properly sharpen tips. I had to watch a bunch myself.

You didn't give us much to go on man, what sort of system are you using (even if using bench stones tell us what kind) and your technique.

A blunted tip is often associated with not lifting off the stone in time but you really didn't give us enough info to answer your question.

Another thing (since again I'm not totally sure the problem your trying to resolve) is that you are not maintaining the same angle and getting more obtuse near the end (not lifting up on the handle as you near the point), that would make it look "less pointy".

I am using a belt grinder with a jig.the blade is fix to jig and pulled across the belt at 90deg angle shaping the grind angle for sharpening or shaping the grind on both sides of blade

And when you near the tip are you pulling the handle back towards you? (Which accomplishes the same thing as raising it up when using benchstones)

Can you clarify exactly what "getting flat"? Maybe with a pic or a simple MS Paint drawing? It sounds like your not correcting the angle to follow the blade, as the blade angles up near the tip you have to change the angle of attack (the angle at which you hold the blade to the belt) in order to maintain the same bevel angle.

I think not if I raise the handle up it will change the shape I remember now thank you.I don't know why I forgot to do this.brain freeze
