Hollow Grind

Chisel Grind

Flat Grind

Convex/Moran Grind

I'm partial to flat, and hollow grinds, because they seem to make better slicers, and to me at least seemed easier to sharpen, that was until I got my Edge Pro, now I'm partial to flat and chisel grinds because they seem to sharpen best on an Edge Pro.

Certainly wasn't the "9 to 5" ;)
But IMO I'd say the "chisel" done on serrated "hollow" Spydies ( like my SE "Cricket" ;))

AET ;)

A la Military, Calypso jr, Lum Chinese, etc.

For a Sabre grind I don't mind so much if its hollow or flat (eg AFCK, Endura)

The reason? They just cut better, for me in my experience.

Flat grind for simplicity and sharpness.

Many hollow grind knives come with a too-deep angle, so when I lower the bevel angle, it turns into a flat grind anyway.

Chisel grinds are really easy for me to get to scary sharpness. Fun to play with, but not really for a user knife because of the veering during cutting.

flat grind

just because they cut better in regular use, I've found. Although I do have a dozier hollow ground (very deep) which cuts marvelously

No surprise here. I like the convex grind by a long shot. Convex rules the outdoor world as far I'm concerned, and doesn't do too badly in an urban situation. Best of all, it's the easiest for me to sharpen. Even D2 is a piece of cake to sharpen when convex ground.

For camping chores, a convex grind seems to be ideal, very sturdy.

But for other cutting tasks I prefer flat ground blades. I find them to be easier to resharpen and they take a finer edge (lower increase of material behind the edge).

I somehow dislike hollow grinds, they look a bit fragile to me, although they can easily be made extremely sharp.

I never owned a chisel ground blade so far, but I´m interested in the Emerson La Griffe.

Hollow ground used by Chris Reeve and Buck. Easy to maintain, and gets a thinner blade profile. Not for everyone ,but works well for my type of cutting.

I like the hollow grind for looks, but for pure cutting ability full flat every time. It really comes into it's own when what your cutting is thicker than the blade is wide.

Well, my "favorite" grinds are really going to depend on what kind of knife I'm using and the job I'm using it for. I like hollow grinds for some things, flat grinds for others.

My least favorite? Chisel grind! :barf:

I've seen it in some other votes too. I suspect that only Premium, Gold and such members can vote. Which probably wasn't the way it was supposed to be... :(

But I agree on the puukko grind, then flat... or convex... or hollow by Chris Reeve... or, well, you know it seems to depend... :D (I need more knives ;) )

Flat.

You should do this again and include tip styles.
I like flat-ground clip-points.
Hollow-ground tantos are a pretty slick strong design too.
