O.K. boys, What do you think of the "Ugly Warden" now? I tried to include a little of the old school straight handle knives by using black linen micarta, adding a birds beak end, and sculpturing the handle. I couldn't due a lot with the blade because of what little was left from the original bad grinding, so I just rounded the top a little. It is now a useful and unique knife (well, at least in my opinion). The following are a picture flow of the process, let me know what you think.

The new scales are rough cut out, mounting holes drilled and counterbored for the solid fasteners.

The scales are then glued on and fasteners attached.

The scales are rough ground for some general shape.

You can see the rough sculpturing of the scales here.

This is close to being done.

Here it is finished, the micarta is actually a little darker than the picture shows.

HOLY CRAP! You have definitely redeemed yourself ducci! That GW came out awesome. Well done :thumbup:

looks cool! I like it! But I can only see two of the pics, my computer has problems with imageshack evidently. :(

Thats very nice. You should do the same thing with a whole GW blade, the birds beak and sculpted scales look very nice!

WOW! I love those scales. Now put some like that on a real GW and that will be one sweet piece.

That turned out great. :thumbup:

I was going to do that to my BA-E. I spent quite a while tracing out models of the BA-E handle and then laying a SHBA on that and overlaying the tracings. Even incorperated a birds beak on there. A ton of preperation and when I finally took the handles off it looked like a waffle-fry under them, not solid like the GW appears to be. I could'nt cut/grind anything considerable enough off to make much of a difference without leaving a very or a bunch of very thin walls/borders. :mad:

It sucks. You should have seen the design I had drawn up. As much time as I put into it I probably have one around here somewhere.

Well done, looks much better than before.
The handles really turned out great :thumbup: :thumbup:

W:eek:W!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice SAVE, Grindmaster HD!!! :D :thumbup::thumbup: :D

Man, I am actually starting to like that little ground knife.
