May seem like a silly question :p I am really interested in purchasing the soon to be released GEC #47 Viper. I was wondering if the swayback design, forces your hand forward, in an odd position? Does the raised butt stick in the palm of ones hand. Never handled a swayback knife, am looking for your input.

I will try to express my opinion and give you a decent answer.
Personally, I like the swayback frame quite alot.
On pull (paring/peeling) cuts, it's probably the most comfortable handle shape, in any size.
On push cuts, alot depends on the hand to handle size ratio. In my own personal experience, even small differences can matter much. For example, my Case SBJ feels a bit odd in pull cuts, while my Oeser (which is a hair shorter than 3,5") feels perfect to me.
As for the GEC Viper, considering its size, I don't think you should have any trouble, unless you have really huge hands. Yet, since you never handled one, there's only one way to discover if you dig the handle shape or not :p

Thanks Fausto! Thank you for your clear review of your experience with a swayback. I was starting to wonder if I was going to receive any feedback on this query.

I like the swayback, feels surprisingly good in hand. Can't really add more than Fausto said, he kinda nailed it. I will say that a lot of swaybacks are not that far off from the shape of some trapper frames, just flipped...so if you have any like that open one up and try holding it backward to get an idea.

Have lots of trappers, will give it a shot. :D

The Case swayback fits my hand really well. It looks like it should feel strange, but it doesn't.
