Grip or mini-grip

Want to try an Axis lock and lots of comments to the good about griptillian here; but would like blaze orange and the Grip orange is not blaze; would I lose much going to the Mini(other than blade length)? Or should I just get the Yellow Grip and be happy?

The yellow mini-grip would be a great choice. I've handled one and it was a great size for almost any cutting task. I have a Doug Ritter Large Sized Grip and I love it, but I remember that the handle and feel of the mini-grip made it feel more solid.

I really like my full sized grip. I like the mini grip too but i find the handle to be really too small for my hands. the full grip is just the right for my medium/large hands. I HIGHLY recommend the modified sheeps foot blade as well. it is really nice.

A lot would depend on the size of your hand too. If you have a small/med size hand, mini might be fine. I carry a mini due to blade length limitations.

I like all the colors myself. Either way, you will be happy. It's a great knife.

Depends what for

I have both the grip and mini in Ritter.

For me the mini is the clear winner by a country mile
[*]it fits in a pocket or clips without beign obtrusive has enough balde and handle

  • for my pruposes.
  • The full size is not really a jeans pocket carry to me - partially as it is too thick and I don't need that much handle for my generally light purposes.
  • not big enough to scream knife nut too loudly

I bought the mini which I loved so much I ordered the full size - to be honest it was a disaspointment (for me) The mini gets the fondle, play, go to ...

If EDC was acceptable here it would be what I carry

Others are different

Try and hold them before you buy one. I have had a Mini Grip for a while now and I figured the full size would feel the same only bigger so I ordered one, I sure was wrong. To me they feel very different (handle) I still like the full size just not as much as the mini
You really cant go wrong either way though

The mini does feel more solid. I have heard you can put bondo or some other filler/adhesive in the grip panels to give it a more hardy feeling and to get rid of that awful hollow sound it makes when closing the blade. I have yet to give this a try though.

I really like my full size grip. It has a green handle and a black partially serrated modified sheepsfoot. I like the axis lock and the blade shape. The only reason it is not in my rotation is because it is partially serrated. It was an impulse buy while I in the desert. I bought a my para as soon as I got home and haven't looked back.

What you will use it for and how you will carry it will be big factors.

I regularly carry a mini-Grip - it is one of my "office" knives, being small in pocket.

I have some full-size Grips, but I rarely carry them on my person. I keep one in my carry bag, for when I need a larger knife. I find the full-size Grips to be a bit big for my EDC and I usually carry thinner knives with that blade length - a 710, for example. That, and I don't like the way the full-size feels in my hand; a weight issue primarily.

I have both. It's all a matter of personal preference. Nonetheless, those whose personal preference favors the regular Grip are right. ;)

Both are great knives. I have several of each. However, I like the feel of the mini better. The liners are about the same size, so the mini feels very solid, where the full size feels cheap and light. (YMMV)

For general everyday carry and use, I prefer the Mini. For heavier duty use or to field dress deer I prefer the full size Griptilian or something else larger than the Mini. I've field dressed several deer with my Mini, but it's a little more work to me. I know you weren't necessarily asking about use for field dressing game, but I thought it might help someone:)
