A member emailed me and wants to know what these grips are. I don't know and think it came from S&W with them. I wasn't the first owner and they was on it when I traded. (it was still a very newish gun so I doubt they'd been replaced) So he wants to know about getting a pair for his 617. Anyone know what they are?
(with the S&W medallion in them i suppose they are from S&W)

jill jackson, thanks for the info. I did not notice the S&W emblem initially. I will continue the search as these are the ones I would like to get.

hogue makes some that are very similar to the pic, i have some on my colt detective special and like 'em a lot, the ones in the pic arent hogues though the hogues screw in from the bottom w/a stirrup arrangement, imho those are S&W grips IIRC i have seen them before but not often.

but imho if ya awant some that would be very close the hogues would be good.

Those particular stocks are no longer made. The older Goncalo Alves combat stocks (as illustrated) sell for $100 to $150 depending upon condition (when you can find them).

I have a 617 that I purchased new in 1990. Those are the original factory grips that came with the gun. They are not available from S&W any longer and are now highly sought after and as JB in SC alluded to, usually go for around $150.00 in good condition if you can find a set.

Very helpful info everybody. It just figures, the grips that really caught my eye are discontinued. Anyways, I will keep on the look-out for these or something very similar.
