Griptilian backspacer delete

Hey guys, I am thinking about getting a griptilian 550 and would love to know if there is any reason I can't replace the factory scales with a set of customs, and just use pillars instead of a back spacer.

There doesn't seem to be much discussion on this, and I'm curious if there is some obvious reason I'm missing that it can't be done.

Anyone tried it? Did it work? Thanks for any advice or tips.
 
I have not myself, I have seen it, looks quite nice actually and easier to clean
 
Out on an offshore rig in the middle-eastfor 4 weeks with a lot of down time back in the early '80s . . .I replaced the grips on a Buck 110 with tropical hardwood taken from a shipping crate.

Most aftermarket scales for the Griptilian do not have the backspacer found on the original. A few do.
Below are my Flytanium Carbonfiber scales.
