Griptilian color choice

Hello everyone, iv final scraped up enough money to buy myself a 551 Benchmade Griptilian (im sure everybody is equanted with that model). The thing is since im going to be EDCing it iv been thinking of the right handle color. Black screams tactical and scares people... im thinking the orange handle will cancle out the scare factor of the knife. OR should I go with the "rule of two" and have my SAK or buck 112 for the sheeple.

I don't think a simple color will create widespread panic. Actually, yellow, orange, pink, and blue draw much more attention than black. Depending on where you work and what the general feeling is, it should not matter too much what color you pick. Buy the color that you prefer, don't base that on what others think. Your knife, should be your choice. :thumbup:
I'd go with black.
 
The only options on the full sized knives are black and orange.

I have a set of orange scales for one of my Grips, but recommend black. Don't worry about people thinking they're scary. Black looks better and shows up dirt less.

Benchmade used to say that the black handles were stronger than the coloured variants - thats why they didn't make full sized knives in bright colours. I'm not sure if that is still the case.
 
Yeah I dunno how it goes but whenever I carry a black/black knife it screams tactical and it doesn't work out well. Orange is a fine color, I ordered my ZT 302 (coyote brown) to avoid the black one. My SMF is black but a satin blade not tiger stripe....so maybe that helps.
 
I recently went with the blue mini. I'll post pics when it arrives. For the large, I want orange.
 
You can get the full sized grips in tan and OD green as well. They're only available with black coated blades though. I like the tan ones myself.
 
I chose a Mini with yellow handles and I'm really glad I did. It's easy to see if it's left on a crowded bench or in a drawer, and if you left it laying about in the garden you'd find it quick! Whatever, Mini or Full size these are really decent knives.
 
Soooo, you're the one. I was going to get the yellow HG, but it was sold out at the online purveyor I frequent. An excellent choice!

I dont have a griptillian yet but when I do, I plan on getting the tan handled version.

If you really are concerned about what sheeple will think, your best bet is probably to get the griptillian in whichever color you want and then carry the SAK with it, like you mentioned, for people friendly cutting.
 
Colors are OK but I prefer the black handled original version, JMHO.
 
I tend to prefer black handle material.
Normally don't care for black blades.

However, if you have several knives, a little color makes a nice change. I suppose some might find them more friendly looking.

There certainly is something to be said for a nice bright color if you're carrying in the woods or on water....makes finding easier if you drop it.
