I'm looking into the griptilian custom thing on benchmades website. I have everything blacked out and a sheepsfoot blade but i don't know what color handle scales to get. I don't want it black and the colors i'm looking at are white OD green and coyote tan... Any recommendations? Man this decision would be so much easier if there was a way for me to just buy scales whenever i wanted to change them out....

You can buy custom scales to switch out when ever you like, they are pricey though. As for the colors, I would definitely say no to the white. Go with OD green, classic color.

Tough choice between tan and green, if I had to choose I'd go with the green.

You could get white handles and dye them yourself to give it a custom look. I'm thinking white with some other color stripes, or maybe leave the "bolster" area white and dye everything else black.

I was looking at this last night, exact set up as you, I want to get mine with the tan on the clip side and green on the other. I do wish they offered a deep pocket clip with the other clip options though.

Check out cuscadi and Wilkins grips too. You may end up with one of those eventually down the line anyways. I ended up making my own set of G10 scales, since as mentioned, the others are fairly pricey, and the stock ones just feel plasticky and somewhat cheap.

I rather like the looks of the griptilian.. Maybe if i want different scales in the future ill just buy one of the cheaper mass produced griptilians for 100$ and swap out scales.

I wish i could get custom handle scales. But i barely have enough money for the griptilian i want. For those wondering i decided on white. Just because i can get any other color im interested in on the cheaper griptilians and swap out scales.

How do you make custom scales like that? I want to try and make my own.. thats amazing. i like the bone micarda one!

When I get mine I'm getting it in blue, but white would be my second choice. There are tons of knives with brown or green handles...not so many white ones.

A lot of years of experience and all the right tools. Don't forget there is an omega spring that needs *just* enough space between the liner and the scale. With that said, it's a very complex process unless you are seasoned in this type of stuff. By the time you get all the materials and tools, you could have bought 50 sets of scales :D
I just got the "vintage" scales from cuscadi and I cant stop looking at my knife because it's that dang nice! I'd recomend the vintage set, but anything else from Luke is just as nice.

^^^^Discomonkey32, I'm seriously thinking about getting a pair of the Cuscadi vintage scales for my Ritter mini. Would you mind posting pics of your so I check them out? I'm torn between the vintage and the Aero carbon fiber ones.
