Sooo I was installing my new scales on my Ritter Grip and I stripped a screw(yes I use Wiha torx). I ended up cutting a t in the screw and using a regular screwdriver to get the screw out. Now the issue is that I call BM and they said they would be happy to send me out the screw, but I couldn't get the rep to understand which screw I messed up. I guess I just couldn't explain it well enough. Totally my fault and she was a very nice lady. So what screw is my pen pointing to in the pic?? She said they only listed a pivot screw and handle screws. This screw is bigger than what I call the handle screws and smaller than the pivot.

That secures the nested liner or Axis cage, to the scale.

In terms of geographical location it would be the screw that follows the pivot (aka the screw next to the pivot and the Axis lock).

Didn't think of that. I did try "It's the only other screw on the side with the pivot screw", but that didn't work. Didn't help that I started getting a little frustrated with the situation.

Haha Dave! It happens though, what can we do? At any rate, most of my mini grips have been black or dark green with black hardware (screws). I never really paid much attention to just how many screws held that knife together. It's a heck of a lot. :) your grip looks awesome. Orange G10 is a great way to go, very safety oriented color in the minds of almost everyone.

Thanks Rev. Allen is a great person to work with and I couldn't be happier with the scales. As far as the screw, I'll just send the pic and go from there. I always tell folk not to muscle out a small torx and always add a little heat if needed. Figures karma would jump up and kick me in the face when I didn't follow my own advice:stupid:

It is the screw that secures the liner, should be all they need to hear.

Still working on it with customer service. They sent me out a set of screws but the one I needed wasn't there. Talked to them again today and sent the pic with the screw I need. Waiting to hear back from them. They have been very nice and accommodating considering I stripped it changing the scales.

That's doesn't appear to be a standard Benchmade screw. The head of a scale screw is the same size as one of the clip screws, it's just shorter. You might need to contact the handle vendor if you want that same screw.

Nope. Its the same screw that came in the knife from Benchmade. Only screws that were replaced with the handles were shorter clip screws.

I think this screw has the same size head as clip screw in the small Grip only. I only have one Grip and its a large one. All the pics I pull up on the web for a large Grip show this screw with a head size between clip screws and pivot screw.

My mistake - thought we were looking at a mini.

No problem. We figured out they sent me a screw set for the mini. Called back yesterday and they sent out another set. The nice lady said they made sure it was for a large. Very nice and helpful people at customer service.

The good folks in the cs department got me out the correct screws(the first set was for a different knife) and all is good. Definitely a good group of folk that went out of their way to help me. If you need something within reason give them a call and they will take care of you.
