I was at Cabela's the other day looking at the griptilians they had there, and one of the guys behind the counter said that Benchmade is making their griptilians in D2 from now on. I was just wondering if this is true or not, and where I can get them.

Hmmm...let me think...I know, how about Cabela's? :)

Hello, I have the cabela's d2 mini-grip. It is an amazing knife and my favorite. I am not sure where, other than cabela's to get it, mine was my first purchase on the forums I believe :) As for benchmade only using d2 from now on, idk about that. I think he was referring to the new bone collector series, which is very similar to a grip but not 100% griptilian.

As far as I know, Cabela's is the only place to get one in D2. Though I think you can still get one in S30V from the NRA store (which would be my personal preference).

Quite possibly the corporate buyer for Cabelas went to Benchmade and struck a deal to have an exclusive item that they would not have to have a price-comparison war with say REI or Bass Pro Shops etc. Cabelas agrees to purchase x quantity at x price, and then sell them for a higher gross profit margin that is uninhibited by price competitions. It is how retail warfare is conducted. I personally would love a Grip in D2. I just am not in the position to get one right now. I hope the OP rereads his post and the obvious jumps out and bites him on the nose. LOL I doubt all Grips will be in D2. I think the sales clerks knife knowledge is exclusively from Cabelas University.

Knifeworks got a batch of grips, and fixed blade grips in that were D2 a month or two back. I believe they are sold out now, and have no idea if they are getting more. Nice knives!

ive seen them around too, cabelas does not have the monoploy on D2 grips. any dealer can make a buy on them as long as they meet the minimum required.

Thanks for the info.
Sorry I didn't know better cj.

It's all good my friend, just a gentle poke. If you did that in Whine and Cheese, you would have been deep fried.:D

I am sure you possibly meant to ask if there was any place other than Cabela's to buy one that may be a better value. Have a great weekend, and buy one of those, you will not regret it. :p
