Do we know yet if the gray G10/20CV Griptilians are being discontinued as well as the 154CM ones?

I see that the 154CM versions are being upgraded to S30V, but I haven't seen a replacement for the 20CV ones. Both seem to be on sale at all the dealers. It would be a real shame if the upper tier ones were going away.
 
Per BKCTROY on their forum,

“We want to address a particular rumor floating around, in regards to the Griptillian and Mini Griptillian families. In the near future, all standard Grips and Mini Grips will be converted from 154CM to CPM-S30V.

**This change DOES NOT affect the -1 Series. They will remain CPM-20CV.**”
 
I was just wondering about this because I saw today that the -1 Grips are marked down and/or flagged as discontinued at several retailers. Since it's not a steel change, maybe a color or other change is in the offing for that branch of the line?

Thanks! I hoped this was the case, but the -1 knives are on sale at a lot of dealers as well.
 
It is very strange to see a line is not discontinued but marked down so significantly. I am talking about the -1 20cv grip and mini. Of course I am all in for lowering retail prices.

I wonder if there was some sort of miscommunication. One of the major dealers has the -1 Griptilian and Mini-Grip marked on sale as "Discontinued." Granted, the sale is really close to the previous retail cost.

Yeah I was able to grab a large 20cv Griptilian from an authorized retailer for like $120 and I think it was a mistake. From what I understand only the serrated and black models were supposed to go on sale.
 
Why were some on sale, especially the black ones? I’m hoping the answer is that they’re starting to use DLC for the coatings?

The 154CM base models are clearanced because the base line is being switched to S30V blades. The -1 gray G10/20CV ones appear to have either been mistakenly put on sale as well in some locations as well.

Interesting, some dealers took a major hit for a day or so then, I personally saw -1 black coated models being sold for around $130. I had figured they just sold out quickly not that there was a pricing error.

Yeah, I saw prices more like $140 for full-sized, but if there had been any plain-edge ones left, I would have jumped on them, too.
 
Man I feel like I need to grab a 556 now even know I don’t need one. I missed out on the Ritter grips when they went away...
 
I couldn’t wait any longer. I just ordered a 551-1 to go with my 556-1. Thank for the heads up on kW having these at the reduced price.
