Griptilian seen on Law And Order

Elliot arrested a perp with a knife. A Benchmade Griptilian.:)

And that's a good thing because?

its cool that they used a proper knife in a tv show, its not cool that its portrayed as a weapon

Would prefer to see knives being used as tools, not as weapons being used by criminals. That's bad media there.

The perp was not using the knife as a weapon. Eillot searched him and found the knife in his pocket. I was just suprised that they used a real knife as a prop.

Its good that it wasnt used as a weapon. However I believe most non-knife folk are still going to associate criminals with knives

I think most folks already know where they stand with knives.
Pretty cool to see knives we recognize in the media.

Swell. More association of knives and criminals is all we need. And I think it's even more damaging that the criminal was carrying a "mainstream," hugely popular folder like a Grip. (Those are what criminals carry!) If the guy had a shank or a cheap steak knife on him it would have reflected a little better on us.

Might as well have had some guy running around decapitating kittens with a SAK.

Acclimates the regular person to being more against knives I assume. I don't how many times a week I see people tearing into things with there teeth. It just looks painful.
At work the other day a co-worker couldn't tear into it a box, threaded tape. I opened my Griptilian and took care of the box. As soon as she saw it, even though she understood what I was using it for, she immediately said "This is a work environment, what do you need that for?"

What can ya do. Open it respectfully only when you need it to show the benefit that's about it. I use my SAK or delica to clean my nails and even then I am selective as to when I do that.

I was watching Hawaii 5-0 the other night and the main guy (his name escapes me) used an all black folder (couldn't tell what kind) to pry open a window. At least it was a cop:)

It's funny that as you were using your pocket knife to open a box for a co-worker was struggling with when she question you about what you could possible need a knife for at work. Sounds like she's a real "Sherlock Holmes". I hope problem solving isn't part of her job description.....

Well, I guess you guys think that for crime shows, they shouldn't use guns, knives, clubs, etc. because it will reflect badly on the legitimate knife/gun community. Get over it. These shows are not going to use fluff balls, tennis balls, strings of yarn, etc. as props to inflict bodily harm on the characters. They're pretend shows.

As for the woman who said; "This is a work environment, what do you need that for?" -- The answer should have been; "to open your box and other office items."

Just my .02¢ but I think some of us are getting way to sensitive about using and showing our knives in public. I could give a rat's patooty what others think of my knives.
