griptilian vs barrage?

Does anyone have experience with both the Griptilian and the Barrage (full-size or mini)? I am interested in your take on the handle ergonomics. Which one fits the hand best and most comfortably during long, hard work? I especially value rumor, innuendo, idle speculation, and unfounded bias. In other words, which one fluffs your skirts?

Well, here my short list:

Griptilian ergos are better
Barrage has full steel liners (I love that)
Barrage has assisted opening (Hate that)

I heard the barrage assisted opening can be removed easily. If that is the case, I may pick one up. Im a whore for full steel liners in folders, and I think if the grip had them, it would be my perfect EDC. However, it wont ever probably, so I may pick a full size Barrage up and remove the AO, and see how it goes. The Barrage is by no means uncomfortable, I just get a better purchase on the grip, probably because of the knurled/checkered pattern on the frn.

Haven't handled the Barrage myself, I have heard complaints about the handle material being weaker than g-10, even some going as far as cracking when dropped (accidentally). As far as the Grip is considered, I bought a full size for my brother's birthday. The ergonomics are great even under prolonged use.

The mini barrage I have actually has a pretty solid AO. Its fun to play with, but the ergonomics of the grip are much better imo

Nope. That's one thing people often talk about it.

But let's be fair that's an aesthetic issue not a strength issue - the inset/partial liners are plenty strong enough to get the job done. The Grip is a great design by a great designer.

I've only handled one Barrage, but it felt mighty nice to me as well. However I like AO, and the AO on the one I was checking out was plenty snappy!

i own both knives & really like both.assist on my 580 is strongest i have seen, beautiful & fun.however i prefer the rugged feel & great jimping of my grip 550shg.

I'm really surprised you guys say the assist is strong on yours, the one I handled had about 40% of the force of a Nitrous Stryker. Maybe it was just a lemon. It was a shame because at $65 it would have been a great deal, but it was the only one they had at the store.

I would take full liners anyday over partial liners.... What if the partial liners broke away under stress in the plastic handles. Full liners would be incapable of doing that. Have I ever heard if such things? no... But its always in the back of my mind.

Assisted opening is nice, but not something that I need (though it is very cool!) I appreciate the fact that the grip and Barrage are practically equivalent (metallurgy, practicality of blade geometry, Axis lock, ease of carry, etc.) My decision will be based on handle ergonomics and balance. I want an EDC that melts into my hand as though it had grown there by itself. Ideas? Other models that I should have on my short list? (Thank you, Jpalmer1988, for suggesting the Presidio. I will check that out.)
