Griptilian wave mod?

So this may be better in maintenance, but I have three questions. I know you can take the thumbstuds off and put a zip tie through, but has anyone actually ground a wave onto a grip? If so could you post pics of your job? that'd be nice:) secondly, is a dremel safe to use for a wave mod, if I'm careful to watch the heat? I don't want to ruin the temper. Thank you for your input and if this is in the wrong spot I'll move it. Thanks!

UPDATE***
I used my dremel to wave it... I still need to get a small bit to smooth out the grind a little bit bc it's a bugging me but the wave actually works really well. And if you were to use the wave in a defensive situation, let me just say the click of the lock is super loud when you whip it from your pocket, which could potentially deter a threat when they hear a *SLAM!!!!* and you have a blade. But utility wise this has proven to be pretty handy today at work[emoji106]

Not as pretty as I'd hoped but the shape is very nice

Temper should not be an issue so far from the edge. Dremel cutting disks should easily handle it, maybe 1-2 disks if you have good control. just dunk it in water to keep it handleable by bare hands. I have considered doing it to my 15020 Hunt series Grip. After cutting, maybe another disk to start rounding the corners of the cut area followed by 220 grit sandpaper rolled around a drill bit to finish rounding.

I should say too that this is an opening hole design to start with and a better candidate.

Yeah that sounds like itd be good. I will probably end up removing the thumbstud and using the hole as part of the wave, i will have to look and see the best way to do it. I wish production models would have the option for one but of course thats not available. I dont even like the wave for tactical purposes, but for the utility in having it open immediately. thanks for your reply. i will update if/when i try it

Has anyone replaced a blade on a benchmade knife? I asked about getting a new 950 blade cause I modded mine and messed up. I asked if I could get one in m390 but they told me no, and I haven't heard back about another in 154cm

I would ask CharlieMike.

He love waves.

He is out of the wave business as of 2015 FYI.

I have taken the thumbstuds off my 551 by unscrewing them, the hole left if very small, I doubt any zip tie with a locking bracket large enough to be useful for a wave opening would be able to fit through it. If you really want a waved Griptilian, get one of the models with the opening hole, the "HG" models.

As I understand, blades can be replaced, M390 is probably only for Limited Edition.
