Last night I installed a nice orange set of G10 Wilkins grips on a Benchmade 551 Griptilian. Everything went together nicely, but while setting the tension on the pivot screw I ran into a slight issue.
While disengaging the Axis lock pressure (ie. holding it open)- the blade will swing freely when near the closed position, yet will 'stick' open in the open position. Basically, the blade is very loose the nearer the closed position and tight nearer the open position.
I've attempted to loosen each set of screws in the body of the scales, varying the tension, etc., and nothing really seems to help. I've got it set at somewhat of a 'happy medium' now - but I'd love to get it near perfect if possible.
Any suggestions?
***EDIT: I'm thinking out of spec backspacer or something. I can disengage Axis lock (hold it back), the blade will 'stick' in the open position, and I can apply pressure on the rear of the scales (spine, back, spacer side), and the blade will release from the open position. I'm still open for suggestions or tips/tricks.
