griptilian

unless you have carny sized hands . . .

The Large Griptilian makes a great EDC. Depending on which blade shape you choose, one might seem larger than another, but there is nothing "too big" about the lg Grip

Nope, but I EDC'd a full sized Manix for several months too. It always comes down to what you prefer. What are some knives that you find to be an ideal size? What are some knives that are too big? That'll give you your answer.

I am not a fan of the full-size Griptillian knives, as I find them a "love 'em or hate'em" design. I do keep one in my carry bag, since they are pretty light for their size and are comfortable in my hand when I'm using them; but then, there are a plethora of knives I own that are comfortable in use and I enjoy carrying.

I have come to like the mini-Griptillians (after years of disliking them) for small EDC use. Blame the Ritter versions for this attitude change.

Love the mini (ritter) find the full size too big -- basically too thickfor my casual carry needs. it is a great knif but takes over a front jeans pocket. I also find the blade length of the mine good for most of my general use purposes

A flat scaled version would be excellent though if wanting the extra blade length. Ther are after market scales that are wonderful - and cost much more than the knife!!

Evernually BM will do a flat scaled version - I gather the 710 is about th eclosest flat equivalent

no, BUT I will say that I prefer to carry it in my back pocket, whereas I carry other flatter EDCs in my front pocket. It takes up a bit of real estate in the front, but is fine in the back.

I like it as a EDC, and the flatter 710;

of course if you had super tight pockets/pants
the smaller mini-grip would work better.

I usually opt for a Mini Grip for pocket carry EDC, but carry a full sized Grip clipless in a belt pouch when doing outdoor activities / camping etc.

I don't know about too big -- I have, in the past carried folders just as large with no problem -- but I prefer the mini. It just seems to have a better "feel" and balance.

HELL NO!!!! i have small hands (my girlfriend always teases me about it) and it works great for me. its not too big in the pocket either. nearly perfect IMHO

No, it's not too big for me. And my hands are not large. Instead of clipping it, though, I prefer to drop it into my front pocket, clip and all, normally. When walking about, I often put it in my back pocket. I plan to get the newer 550HG due to the round hole (which I prefer over my ones with the oval), and the hollow grind. Plus, when carrying in-pocket, the opening hole version, lacking studs, has less to snag on or cause possible pocket wear.

IMO, the mini may be even more ergonomic, but for many jobs I prefer the full-size version(s).

I'd go for the hole. This is a personal preference though. Of the folders I have, I like the hole opening method best... I don't own a Grip yet, but I do have a Couple Spidies, and an SnG, and am really digging the hole...even vs. my sebenza (edc of 5yrs.).. I have a BM 940 incoming, so It's not a MUST have, but I really just wanted to check out the 940. Most likely, It'll come and go. ..but who knows! I see a Grip sticking around. I LOVE 154cm, and don't have any right now.. All of the 154cm blades I've ever had and used were Microtechs though.. a Socom and an LCC. I used the p!ss outta the Socom before trading it away... I miss that bugger!

The full size Grip isn't too big at all. Its really a great size.

In fact, it tends to almost get lost clipped to my pocket and I forget it is there.
