Hey so my zt 0630 is has the worst feeling ever. It feels like sand is in the pivot but i realized it's the detend ball. I've cleaned it multiple times, taken it apart and done everything else I've seen on other threads of this. Im hoping someone can help me fix it. Maybe a dremel polishing wheel? My Zt 0620 opens extremely smooth and drop shuts and my 0630 stops a quater of the way when i thumb flick it
P.s if anyone knows someone that does good stonewashing i would love to know. i polished my zt after bringing the grind way too shallow (i messed up bad, i cant keep anything as is)

Yes i edc'ed it for about a month but i took it apart and put it back together and it was fine for a few days then developed that feeling
Had the same problem with my ZT 0452 CF and no matter what I did it wouldn't go away. I ended sending it out to ZT and they either fixed it or swapped it. I also asked them to adjust the detent, it was much to tough to open. Got it back and it was fixed but I still don't like it very much. I think I am going to sell or trade.

Most often it can smooth out over time of using or opening and closing. But if you want it to be smooth asap, you can send it to KAI for warranty work.

Try sending it in. As much as you'll hate it being gone when you get it back it'll feel like you got a new knife

I'd take something sharp and hard (to provide good feedback) like a needle to probe around and seen if you can feel any roughness along the detent path and similarly on the ball its self. Add in a magnifying glass to see if you can see anything weird on the path/ball.

I don't think the warranty will cover it since i polished the blade. And i was able to find something wrong with the detent ball track. If i run a q-tip over it i can feel the roughness of it

Will a dremel buffing wheel help it or ruin it? or is it just best to open and close it non stop ?

You can use a dremel with some light compound. Mothers mag and aluminum polish works well for me for stuff like this. But it'll just polish, it won't remove any burrs or clean up a rough surface.

This is a very simple fix, I've encountered this numerous times.

Go to your nearest Ace Hardware, buy yourself some polishing paste... It's gotta be the paste, comes in a tube. Either Flitz or Maas will work, but Flitz is better IMO.

Squeeze some paste into the pivot and vigorous open and close the blade for a few minutes. Make sure the paste is making contact with the detent ball and also the detent path. Add more paste as needed.

If you think you're done, blast the pivot with WD-40 to get all the schmoo out and check how it feels.

If it feels fine, grease 'er up. If not, repeat.

Cool thank you very much. I will try doing that

Update :
I used a light polish and a cone shaped dremel tip and lightly went over it. tighten the pivot so it was barely touching the track and opened and closed it a bunch of times. and slowly tightened it more and more. it actually worked to the point its pretty good. once i added some oil it became drop shut smooth
