it seems most people either swap the becker grivory handles with micarta or wrap them. has anyone had any luck adding texture to the grivory? i'm thinking of taking a dremel to my factory bk2 handle to see what i can come up with. anyone with photos, please send!

Hmmm. I haven't tried but id recommend either having back up grivory or a set of micarta ready to go in case you don't like the result.

However,
I do have faith in you

I'm stripping a 7 as I type. I have a new one with micarta but leaving grivory on this one as I have 4 sets of them. Might as well use them. I took sandpaper and very coarse scotch-brite pad to them and it makes a lot of difference. Sorry I don't have pics. I never liked the soldering iron stippling idea or cutting grooves in them as it may weaken the handle. I'm not really sure. Just scuffing them up seems to be good enough for me. Loc-tite the bolts too while I'm at it.

used a triangle file to cut diagonal lines both ways(like diamond) into the grivory. Worked well with no complaints, only reason I got the micarta was to see what the buzz was about.

From the pics I've seen on the Becker subforum, I'd say most use the grivory as is. A number of folks have messed with adding texture and so forth but I suspect your premise is incorrect.

I def think the grivory is good as is. It does feel like it would be slippery the first time its held, but with use you see just how good of a handle material it actually is. I only put on micarta bcuz I like the mod it, but if I had to choose which to use as is, it'd def be the grivory

cool. i'll give your suggestions a shot. thanks for the input!

Definitely don't use a dremel, if you look up stippling on youtube you can get a good idea of how to do a stippling job with a soldering iron.
