Hey gang,

I've got a Grizzly Creek that has slightly off center blade. I've got the pivot adjusted to the sweet spot so it's nice and smooth without any blade play. However, the blade is slightly off center.

It's kind of bugging me and I was hoping that you smart folks might be able to give me some tips and suggestions as to how I can get the blade centered.

Thanks!

The technique that I've used to center blades is following. However, I have to make the disclaimer that most of the knives that I own are liner locks, but I think this might work for an axis lock too.

1. Loosen pivot screw. Not so loose that it falls out, but loose enough.

2. Loosen the body screws.

3. Tighten the pivot screw to the tension that allows for smooth action, but doesn't allow for any horizontal blade play.

4. With the knife closed, push the blade with your thumb against the side that it's currently favoring, while simultaneously tightening the body screws so that they're nice and snug.

That usually does the trick for me. However, as I stated before, most of the knives I own are liner locks, but I don't see any reason why this wouldn't work for an axis lock knife.

If all else fails, Benchmade should hook you up and straighten things out. Or, someone else will come along with better advice.

If the blade doesn't center when all screws are loosened, then only the pivot screw tightened, it means the blade/bushing/washers/scales aren't square with the world, or one of them is warped. In this case, adjustments made to center the blade will cause binding elsewhere.
