Grizzly G1061Z 1HP buffer.....worth buying ?

At $325, it is half the cost of a comparible Baldor. Is it worth having ?

I do not own a Grizzly machine of any kind but, I know many who do and are happy with them. Personally, I think that buffer is a little large for a knifemakers shop. I have a Baldor 3/4hp and it is a powerful machine. I have used it on almost every knife I've made but, I am about to purchase a small 1/4hp jewelers buffer which I think will actually see more use. Big buffers can be really dangerous. A smaller one can certainly still be dangerous but, it is not so likely to have a 4" buff yank a knife out of your hand as it is a 10" buff.

I use a 1/4 hp 1725 rpm Baldor. No need for any more power and I sure don't want more rpm...

I have one of the big Grizzly buffers. It works very well. Get the 1725 RPM model if they still offer it in two speeds.
