After unpacking the boxes I discovered there were no instructions and no lower wheel.
Is the lower wheel usually included with these grinders or???

Thanks,

Just a quick update:

I emailed Grizzly last night. When I got home tonight, there was a great email from them. They are sending a manual and a lower wheel, prepaid.

I will post another update after assembly and a couple of days' use.

don't feel like the lone ranger!but at the same time i ordered their belts also, they didn't ship the right amount , no they have them in stock,no backorder, so i called to correct order, the saleslady said no problem well got second shipment today shipped half of this one also guess i'll try again!!!

Final Chapter..

The last piece arrived today, and the knife grinder is assembled and working fine.

The emails totaled 17 to get the knife grinder and the belts all delivered.

The total package count was 5 for the two items.

Maybe a month or so from now I will end up happy with my purchase, but Grizzly did just about every possible thing they could to derail this transaction.

The machine is great, but the service absolutely sucks.

One other note: I have a Grizzly Table saw, Bandsaw and 6 inch jointer. The machines that I bought after the Grizzlies are Delta, because the Service from Grizzly got SO bad 8 or 9 years ago.

If you order from this company be prepared for a hassle every time you try to dea; with them. Their service seems to be consistently awful.

windancer, I have to diagree with you, you got your parts in 3 days, I have waited 3o days from some companies. Thing is they probably got products of the public school sytem filling the orders.

Mike, are you from the public schools too?

April 19 to May 22 = 3 days?

I think a two item order should not take more a month as did this one.

I got s grzzley grinder about 3 weeks agp
I had everything in 3 days
no trouble here, runs good and you can change
wheel size it adjust from 72 inch belts up to 80.I think for the money it is a good grinder
I wish it had a variable speed on it
other than that I am pleased.

I think they have a little problem with QC on these grinders but they really have provided me with great service. I had to replace the grinding wheel twice and they arrived in the mail in 2-3 days. I like this outfit so far and my grinder is purring like a kitten.

Whoops I'm caught, ye I'm a product of public schools i just checked the day and not the month. Never mind what I just said.

Well, the smoke has cleared and my Grizzly grinder is complete and is a genuinely good tool.

It has plenty of power, tracks well and runs smoothly.

After all the hassles, I believe I would do it again.

consider yourself lucky... I just now, recieved my mini-milling machine from Grizzly Industries. I ORDERED IT ON JUNE 6,00. It is a nice machine, works great and all, but I'll be damned if I EVER let them back-order anything on me, again. IMO, I would rather pay a more reputable company more money up front to recieve merchandise in a timely manner, than to have to wonder where my sh!t is. MSC is fairly expensive, but they ship same day as ordered, as long as the item is in stock. Many others are just as good. In my last email to Grizzly, I told them that I was going to tell everyone on Bladeforums and any other internet sites that I frequent, what I thought about their service. The thing is, it's a great little machine and I'm glad I waited, but I shouldn't have to wait almost 3 months for any tool. THIS IS THE YEAR 2000. Grizzly stuff is pretty good, but if they say it's back-ordered, (and you need it NOW), don't count on filling that last minute order.

Mine took around three months to recieve too. It's a great machine for the money, and the only complaint I have on the backorder is that their estimations are wrong. They told me 6-8 weeks, and it was twice that. I don't mind waiting, as long as I recieve it when I'm told how long I should expect to wait.

I would not badmouth a company that made a mistake and you didn't give them a chance to correct it..Two of us drove 2.5 hours to their Wmsport,Pa store and we both were impressed with both the wood and metal working machines.. another comment our postal system will never be accused of takin'
speed will they???

Boy you guys think you got it bad. On feb. 11 I sent a moneyorder to Grizzly for a 10" wheel for my grinder. After 2 months and no package, I called and was told that it was on back order and would be here in 4 - 6 wks.
After numerous calls, guess what came today...........MY WHEEL. 6 1/2 Months they sat on my money!! If I could have got another wheel at a similar price I would have told them to stuff the order up thier a**.
Don't let them put your order on back order, go some place else if possible.

By the way, I love my Grizzly Grinder!!

I just ordered the grinder about three weeks ago and received it in a few days. All the parts were there and it worked fine after a few adjustments. I almost didn't order it after all the bad things I read about them, but I'm glad I did.
Knifenovice, do they give you better prices if you go to their store? I'm just a couple hours away and was wondering if it was worth the drive.

Well Shoot. I ordered a knife grinder from The Griz and it took about 8 weeks but it was all there and works fine. I ordered the mini-mill and was told it would take 4 to 6 weeks and had it in 6 days. all except the mill holdersjust got them. They took four weeks and were threaded for two different size draw bars. How do you tell who's good and who's bad?
I ordered some stuff from Texas Knife Supply got patr of it and was told what ever I didn't get was on backorder.Crap I can't remember what I ordered to start with. It's a good thing we are a patient bunch

About the only thing you would save is the shipping on big items is $$$ a buddy Of mine
bought a wood planer...it was $85.00 shipping
and it didn't cost him that much to drive
over there for that.. and they will load
you right there...

I tried to order a Grizzly last week. They won't ship to Canada. Then they even pulled the knifemakers belt grinder from their on-line catalogue. Maybe it's just the old deal that if something sounds too good to be true - it probably is.

Dave,
17 emails? Really? I feel for you, bud.

Novice,
If you were talking to WinDancer in your reply, why did you quote me?

Feel free to use the search function if you really want to see how many "mistakes" Grizzly has made. There are at least a half dozen people in this thread alone, that have had problems with Grizzly. As far as the Post Office goes, they had nothing to do with it. FYI, Consolidated Freight called me the day that they picked up my mill in Seattle and had it on my doorstep in three days. I bet your tune would change after you sit at home twiddling your thumbs for three months waiting. Then again, you'd probably just drive to Williamsport and pick it up yourself. You better call them and make sure whatever it is that you want is in stock before you start the car.
