I know there has been alot of discussion lately about what is the best mill to get. Some say the minis are not a good idea but I have to say that this one is pretty good. I went over to my friends shop for a lesson on using a milling machine. He is a master machinest/toolmaker for Lockheed Martin Marietta. He has a $15,000.00 machine in his shop. Quite a piece of equipment. We slotted a guard on it and he showed me the basics on operation. I did one on the Grizzly and it came out just as nice. Of course you're limited because of the size but for what I'm using it for I like it just fine.:D

i guess its just a matter of knowing what you're doing.
and having a little patience
man i need to take some machine shop classes

Michael, when I first got it and set it up on my bench, I looked at it and wondered, how the hell does this thing work. I stood there reading the useless instructions that came with it. All they were good for was :jerkit: but after watching my buddy run his, there's nothing to it. Now I'm sure there are more involved projects that can be done with it but I'll learn as I go just like everything else with making knives.

Got the same machine. sure beats drilling 7-8 holes in a row.
Get a couple spare main gears from Lttle Machine Shop for spares just in case.

You guys ever look at the X3. Grizzly is carrying it now also (I can't remember their model number right off the top of my head), but it has a lot more capacity, and is still under $1000.00.

I've got a "unimat-sl". Does anyone know where to get cutting bits and parts for it at a decent price?
