I just got a Grizzly and I'd like to build a table for it before it gets here so I'll be ready to go. Can anyone who has a Grizzly tell me what the height is from the base of the machine (table-level) to the middle of the platen?

I kept my Grizzly even though I have a Northridge now. My base is 26" high off the floor, 20" wide and 16" deep. I have the belt arm at a slight angle towards wall and this puts the middle of my platen about 45" or 46" otf.

So like I said I have mine at a slight angle but from the base of the motor flange it's about 18" or 19" to center of platen.

Awesome, thank you! That lines up with about what I was expecting (their website says the arm is 11.5" high when it's horizontal so I figured it's probably about 3.5" from the table to the bottom of the 8" wheel, and the top of that is maybe 1" below the bottom edge of the 9" platen, so I figured it was probably 17.5-18" to the center).

I'm curious why you keep your arm at an angle? I'm always interested in better ways to make the Grizzly work.

I was taught how to make knives from a guy that had his set up that way. But to be honest all my grinding is done on a vertical platen on my Northridge. I made a ton of knives with my Grizzly and still use it for lots of things. Quality tool.
