On Chat, Brendan asked that I give him a description of the Grohman dangler belt loop as to how it is tied to the sheath. It is a very simple little concept that makes both an attractive tie and effective system. So, to help him visualize the knot, I took mine apart and re-tied it. Obviously, this is a Grohman design, not mine. Here you go Brendan, I hope this is helpful and helpful to others curious about this too.
Sheath and separate dangler loop. Notice the notch hole in the sheath. The dangler loop has a slit at each of its two ends.
Thread one end through the hole in the sheath from the inside. Of course, you could thread it through the outside and pull most of leather through from the inside of the sheath.
The portion of the dangler coming out of the sheath is threaded through the slit of the other end of the dangler.
The end, coming out of the sheath is then slipped over the loop portion of the dangler.
Grab the loop and pull it tight.
