Hello to you all guys

I have a question about Grohmann survival knife. I will order kit but can't decide between flat and sabre ground version. I know that sabre ground version is a little stronger for choping and diging.

I don't plan to dig with knife (there are much better improvised tools to dig with) and i would not chop a lot with it. I will use it as primary belt knife worn at all times and I have hatchet or CS bushman in my backpack for beating. So grohmann will be used for choping only if I am separated from my backpack before I can pick some other knife.

I know that there is a test of Flat ground grohmann in TK but I cant find copy of it here in europe. Can someone just pass the conclusions from that article or any advice.

I would prefer Flat grind becouse it looks better and is beter at slicing and skining.

Thanks in advance

Hi Bogdan,

Welcome to BFC! Because you do not intend to beat the Grohmann hard, either the flat or saber grind should be plenty strong enough for your uses. Like you, I also prefer flat grinds due to appearance & performance. Sorry, I don't have the results from the magazine article you mentioned.

Flat grinds are usually better overall slicers as well. I'd go with the flat grind for sure. That is such a great little belt knife.

good knife for the price, but not the best for the job. just IMHO.
