Hi I've been thinking of buying a Grohmann folder and was wondering if anyone has been using one for a while and how do they stand up. They are a good size and seem to be built well. I have a Grohmann #4 fixed blade and I like the blade and handle design and the folders look just like a folding version of the #1.

Seen one, handled it, and would unreservedly recommend buying it. The images over the net do not do it justice. Gorgeous knife, and the only reason I haven't bought one yet myself is price tag and impending wedding :).

Trying asking in the traditional folders and fixed blade section maybe?

I like that knife.. but if I wanted a knife like that I would just get a Buck 110
(like the cabelas one with s30v steel)

Thumbs up on their fixed blades though! they are pretty cool.

Yeah, Grohmann's fixed blades rock. I've got an Original Design and a Mini Skinner and love them both with a depraved unholy love :). I'd disagree on the Buck, though; IMHO, the fit and finish on the Grohmann is better (not that the 110 isn't a great knife), and everybody and their brother-in-law don't own them :).

Sorry to take so long to jump in:) I don't have that particular folder, but I have their Featherweight one. I've actually had it long time - it's a nice folder for the money. Very light, holds a good edge. It's got a riveted pivot and mine's been used to the point where there's a bit of side to side play, but that sure wouldn't stop me from buying another one:D I also have the Grohmann #1 which gets permanent kitchen duty (I don't really camp that much any more) and the Mini-skinner. I also have been eyeing that particular folder plus the survivor fixed blade.

Thanks for the input everybody, I think I'm going to get one. The #4 survival knife is great Gord, I've had one for a while and I like it alot. The design offers great blade controll for a fairly large knife and it holds a good edge. Mine has the carbon blade and rosewood handle as I wanted a knife to beat up in the bush.
