Whay do you know about Grohmann knives? And what kind of steel do they use?
Thanks

I love Grohmann knives. I was able to pick up three of them when I went on a factory tour in Nova Scotia last summer. Their quality is outstanding and their unique shape fits my hand well. Of the three I bought two are still in their boxes under collection status. The third was a factory second and is the only one I have used. I still can't find the manufacturing flaw on this knife, but I got it for more than half off. I do not remember what type of steel they use and I'm away from home so I will have to get back to you. Take a look at their their web site www.grohmannknives.com. I picked up two of the #1 original design and a #4 survival knife.

Hey Bear, they are very well designed and fit the hand very well(well my hand anyway). I'm not sure what carbon steel they use but I'm pretty sure the stainless is 440a. I'm not wild about the regular sheath design but I've got a couple of Canadian jump knives with a flap over sheath like the old Buck sheaths that is quite nice.

Bear,

I own a Grohmann #1 in stainless steel. I'm not sure what steel type it is, but I'm very impressed with this knife. The handle setup may seem a little awkward at first sight, but it's very comfortable; even when you use the knife for an extended period. It takes and holds an edge really well. I've taken this knife on many hiking trips and it has always worked very good.

The only thing I don't really like is the sheath, since it kind of hangs from your belt. I like sheaths that ride a little higher on the belt better.

Hope this helps.

Serge.
