About a month out from my wedding and need groomsmen gifts. I've got it narrowed down to these two. The best man gets a Domino as I love mine and wanted to award him a little better, and I know one other guy in the party will get into the knives and would appreciate the Delica, but the other two...??? I think they'd get more use out of the Farmer personally. The stainless Delica's are in my price range of about $75. I'd consider an Endura, but I think they're a bit large for EDC personally especially for possible non-knife guys.

So what say you? Delica or Farmers for the 3 groomsman? Anything good to pair the Farmer with if I go that route as I feel it's a little under my gift budget?

As a recent Spyderco convert, my gut reaction is the say the Delica for sure. But, after a bit of thought, if they are a non-knife person I think the SAK would be a better choice as it has a better value overall.

I vote the farmer, a classic and most everyone would benefit from having one. Non-knife people seem amenable to the brand as well.

Definitely a farmer.

A non knife person will look at a Spyderco and ask to himself, "What do I need a knife for" while thanking you. But a alox SAK is always cool, and I don't know many young men who won't appreciate having something to pop the top off a cold brewski!

I voted for the Delica, and you can have them engraved with their name, wedding date etc.

CRACK!!!!!

That was the sound of Jackknife sending the ball over the back fence. 100% spot on answer. I will also say that I just purchased a Farmer (one of the limited edition orange ones) and I'm kicking myself for having gone without one for so long. I have my Cadet Alox in black that I'll always have in my day bag, but whenever I go out, that Farmer is right there with me.

So far, the Farmer has proven itself to be pocket gold. I've opened countless beer bottles for my crew, and I'm enjoying the larger blade on this knife versus the smaller Cadet's. I've also just recently used the awl spike for knocking a new hole in my buddy's belt for him. He's lost weight recently on a new workout/diet regimen, and we were out one night and he was complaining that his belt wasn't keeping his pants up as well. Out came the Farmer, and one new hole later, his belt is back to holding up his pants.

I just think there's more value there versus the Delica.

I voted other but only because of the Steel in the Delica ~~ if it was ZDP189 I would of voted for the Delica.!
I like the SAK alright as I do own a few of them as they have there place in life.

I'd pick the Farmer as well for the same reasons already mentioned. If you want to get it engraved, the back of the Alox scales does have a small flat rectangular space.

I've gifted two Farmers recently, and also picked up one of the orange ones. I voted other though, just because I noticed black alox Pioneers are available right now (like a Farmer without the saw). I also really like the alox Cadets, red and black available.

A SAK farmer is a great way to get a non-knife person interested in the usefulness of a knife. I think they will get a lot more use from a farmer than a delica. Personally I would get them the alox version:thumbup:

The farmer in alox and maybe a fenix flashlight like the LD01(which is a nice little keychain light.) or something to get it up to your budget. Eventually everyone need a flashlight and a quality one with decent output will really help them out.

Ok, so I must admit I voted for the Delica, but only because that's what I WOULD want. My own selfishness shining through! I do agree with the majority here though, the SAK would be more frugal and appropriate!

I vote for the Vic farmer. Flashlight is a good idea. Maybe a leather slip case.

This guy is right a lot...my choice also.

Farmer, even appeals to gadget guys too. Super classy and built to last.

Both are great choices but I would definetly choose the Delica. It is a classy well built folder that I think most men will appreciate. The Farmer is nice to just not as nice a gift IMHO.

I bought knives for each of my groomsmen based on their personality and how I thought they might use them.

Kersahw Blur for the landscaping/gun guy
Kershaw Leek for the pharmacist
Leatherman multitool for the film school graduate living in London
Buck 110 for the best man, classic and timeless

That said, I'd hit the SAK for the gift giving purpose.
