Hello all,

I am familiar with the spyderco's, benchmades, kershaw knives etc...and these are all wonderful, but I am wondering what else to look into for my groomsmen gift. Listed below are my requirements. Please make some knife suggestions and it is okay to include the brands listed above. Thanks!

1) Less than 4 inches closed
2)Easy one handed opening for when our fingers are numb in the heart of winter
3)Light weight or "slim" profile (we all dislike bulky pockets)
4)Great edge retention (I am not sure of their sharpening skills, therefore ease of sharpening should be included)
5)Blade shape that is good for cutting rope, cardboard, tape, zipties, notching wood, general slicing and detailed cutting, edc use
6) Less than 100$

Carbon Fiber Sage would be nice (3" blade, 4" closed, S30V, slim & light, easy opening, reversible for righties or lefties, $98):

My vote goes for the Kershaw Speedform II.
It's similar to the Leek in size, but it fills the hand much better.
ELMAX steel was an amazing choice for this knife too, the blade finish is awesome.
Enjoy the pics.

CRKT Ken Onion Ripple 2
1. Closed length : 3.8"
2. Easy, smooth, and fast one hand opening with flipper & IKBS bearing
3. Weighs 2.3oz, less than 5/16" thick
4. Steel is Acuto, which some people say comparable to 440C. It's not super steel but decent.
5. Nice drop point shape
6. Online price is about $70

How about the Al Mar money clip knife ? Made in Japan (Moki ?) And plenty of real estate for engraving.
more money clip than knife , but a handy lil item .

The model is Al Mar Cash Clip.

May I suggest the Benchmade 707 Sequel. You can probably find them for just slightly north of $100. I think Knifeworks has a great online price.

Now if you REALLY like the guys... Mnandi. But that could set you back quite a bit, depending on the number of groomsmen you have. But how about that Best Man?

man that is one FUG pocket clip on the speedform 2.... shame because the clip on the speedform 1 is sick...

I would opt for the Spyderco UKPK since they are on clearence on Spyderco's website currently for an amazing price. Since they are novice knife users, I'd say a lock is a must though and s30v may be a bit much if they don't often sharpen knives or have little experience with doing said chore. I'm going to say the Delica or Mini-grip since it is so sheeple friendly. The CF Sage is an awesome idea as well. There is always the cheaper route as well. You could go with the Kershaw Skyline.

Definitely a damascus, silver shallot. it is large, thin, and the damascus is very pretty. the silver one is cheaper than the damascus leek, actually....
Even though the edge retention is not the best, i doubt these would become EDC knives. they are just too dang pretty....

If you are looking for something a little cheaper, then the damascus skyline should fit the bill. i think that damascus is perfect for the occasion. a weddings seems to be the perfect place for damascus.

If you get in a total conundrum, you could always ask them what they want. might be cool to let them pick....

Wow I really like that one. I am not a guy who has any class or style but I could see me carrying that on those awful occasions that I need to wear slacks and dress shoes, though I am sure that my wife would disagree. She is of the mindset that weddings, funerals, and social functions are meant to be "knife free".

I think this would be a nice groomsman gift.

the spyderco endura 4 fits all of your criteria.

Pick out a nice Case knife and have them engraves with your sentiment. All the kings men may not be into boggie man killers. A simple slip joint with their name will be a life long token.

A buddy of mine gave all his groomsmen a Leatherman. I think it was their top of the line back in '98. I thought it was an awesome gift; it's the only Leatherman I have. Never needed to buy another. Much more versatile than just a knife. Give it a thought.
