Alright normally I'm pretty good at finding this kind of thing on my own, but I'm running short on time and I could your guys' (and gals') help.

I'm looking for the "best" traditional folder I can find in the $15-20 range. It doesn't have to be too particular -- just something that people who aren't knife nuts can still appreciate. Small, with a single blade (multiple blades are ok too), slim profile, basically a gents knife would be best imo. I see a lot about old timer knives here, are they decent blades? What other budget knife companies make inexpensive traditional folders?

Stainless Steel Case Peanuts can be had under $25. My next choice would be Boker's then Rough Riders. Swiss Army Knife classic can be had in Wedding matching colors for under $15 (with the nail file & scissors) they will probably get the most use by non-knife nutz. My wife and some of her co-workers have carried ones for years working in day-care.
Good luck & congrats, we killed a keg of Spaten at the rehearsal dinner and sharp objects in the Groom's party was more easily measured in feet than inches at my wedding.

Haha man I love spaten I knew I should have gotten a case of that munich dunkel for the wedding. Maybe ill still bring one.

Thanks for the recommendations, I'll be checking them out.

Anything by Victorinox. In my experience, even non-knife people immediately relate to one of those.

Victorinox Cadets.

They have a small area suitable for engraving.

Regards.

+1 for Victorinox (alox ones preferred...I know they lack toothpick and tweezers, but they're more classy to be given as gifts, and they also have the small engravable area for the wedding date or whatever you want to engrave).
Aside from that, I guess a Peanut could be small and light enough to sneak in their pocket someday and get a chance to show them how useful a knife can be.

Maybe a bunch of Opinel 6s? Great knives, and definitely in that price range.

How about this Rough Rider stockman, #438? 3-1/2" closed in amber jigged bone at < $12 each, shipped.

Or any of the excellent RR Old Yellow series?

Notably, Small Sodbuster, RR 890 Dogleg Stockman, Whittler or Small lockback.

Their Half-Whittler and Small Copperhead are nice pocket-knives too.

Then they get the taste and want a GEC....:D:thumbup:

thanks for all the recommendations guys...i think i've decided against victorinox, just because im not sure some of them dont already carry one on their keychains...i'm liking the peanuts although i've only been able to find the yellow one (still like the look of it, havent ruled it out) for under like $25. I haven't ordered anything yet so if you think of anything else please still bring it up! Thanks

edit: dang i wish they still made the colored alox some of those are nice looking...5 different colors too perfect for 5 groomsmen haha. Anyone got a set they are willing to part with for a price?? ;)

Perhaps something like the Rough Rider Half-Whittler in pearl? I believe they can be had for less than $15 online...

For something a little different (and decidedly not traditional,) perhaps a Spyderco Kiwi 3 in stainless... stag also available but is a little more expensive.

I vote for a case peanut, too. Either that or the Vic Cadet. A Case peanut is just an American classic, much like the Buck 110. Victorinox like you said a lot of people can have and a lot of companies even have custom engraved ones: they're everywhere.

A Case peanut is a definition of class. They are mostly unique to the non-knife collector and will bring back the memory of your wedding to your groomsmen for years to come. Congrats, too! My best friend is getting married this summer, and I'll be the best man there.

What about the AG Russell Ultimate Pen Knife? It would bring you in right @ $20 with a titanium handle and VG10 blade.

If you dig, you can find these for just a few dollars over $20, but they are spiffy as heck.

Buck 302 Solitaire
ignore the extra 2 springs in this picture, there is only one on the actual knife. Buck, like other manufacturers, prefer photoshop over taking a picture of the actual knife

Alittle bit higher than your price range, but Boker treebrand has some nice traditionals.
