Groove/Blur - Born On Date Question???

I have a Groove Tanto and a Blur Tanto. My Groove Tanto has
the born on date on the flipper of Jul 09. But my Blur has no
born on date anywhere on the knife, I purchased it new about
3-4 Months ago at a local sporting goods store..
I'm wondering what the blade steels are for both knives,
especially the Blur which I'm now clueless as to what it is.

The groove probably 14c26. Can't really say about the blur since it came in so many steels.
 
Odds are good that the Groove is 14C28N (I wanna say that July '09 is after the switchover date), but it may also be 13C26. The Blur is mostly likely either 14C28N or S30V (I'd say 14C28N unless otherwise clearly marked), given the lack of "born on" date, how recent the purchase was and the fact that it's apparently not clearly labeled.
 
There were a lot of Groove blades made ahead of time so being 13C26 is more likely.
There was only 1 tanto Blur done is S30V and that is a 1670DKGRYST which I have here on my desk. :)

Those are nice looking blurs, but are you sure they made it in a Tanto? If so I would love to see a pic, I need to get me some more blurs.
 
Oh, and from what I understand, it has the newer inserts. Here are some pics, not sure if that helps with dating my Blur and figuring out what steel was used.

Definitely not 440A. I don't remember about the time period for non-BOD. I think yours could very easily be 14C28. :)

The official switch over from 13C to 14C was March/09. Since your Groove is dated and after March/09 I think it would more
then likely be 14C. And since the no BOD came after July/09 it would be 14C as well. That's my best guess and I'm sticking to it. :D
