Grooves on the top of a blade

I am trying to find out the best way to put the kind of small grooves you see on thumb ramps and on the top edge of a lot of knives that provide a llittle grip for the thumb.

Any help would be great thanks

Mark, I have done the dremel method ad Drop Point suggested but had a little trouble with getting everything evenly spaced, some days I could, some days I couldn't..

What I did was to break down and buy a set of checkering files, they have different spacing and number of lines per inch..

These speed up the process extremely plus they leave a very even and uniform apearance..The only drawback is their price, I think I paid about 25 bucks for a 6 inch file... pricey, but as long as you take care of them they should last a while..

I think if I remember right, I got mine from sheffeilds knifemaking supply out of Florida...

Hope I could help... Alan Folts..

Alan makes a good point . The checkering files are great.. Also try a screw sloting file. They come in different widths and seem to cut straight across and dont drift as bad as regular files..
